Melcourt’s range of professional quality composts, bark mulches, soil improvers, topsoils and play surfaces have become the first and only peat-free gardening products to receive endorsement from the Royal Horticultural Society.

The RHS has a world-wide reputation for inspiring gardeners of all ages and abilities by sharing the best in gardening. They do this through their magnificent gardens, internationally renowned shows, website and publications. All four RHS gardens use Melcourt products, from peat-free composts to mulches and soil improvers. Such first-hand knowledge of the quality and performance has led to their desire to endorse the ranges.

“Sales of our landscape and garden products have grown dramatically in the last few years as gardeners and professional landscapers have come to realise that there are cost effective and efficacious alternatives to peat-based products,” says Catherine Dawson, Melcourt Technical Director.  “It was gratifying to be approached by the RHS about endorsement. It will give users more confidence and thus we believe give a boost to our stockists and retailers.”

Andy Chalmers, Melcourt Managing Director adds”As the RHS only endorses gardening products that have a proven, tried and tested track record, their endorsement is recognised and trusted by both professional and amateur gardeners as the mark of a truly excellent horticultural product. We see this endorsement as the start of an exciting new phase in the development of the business.”

The RHS has over 430,000 members, more than 2 million annual visitors to its gardens and shows and 1.7 million unique monthly visits to its website. All this means they are the UK’s leading gardening charity and their endorsement is a major influencer when gardeners are choosing gardening and other products – whether they are members of the RHS or not.Their reach extends beyond their own membership via extensive TV and radio coverage (over 80 million BBC TV and radio audience, plus a 68 million print press reach during the 2015 RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show alone).
