Gardens grow people

Salters Hill cares supports and provide opportunities for people with disabilities – creating the right environment to grow independence, confidence and wellbeing.

Many of us know the nourishing effects of gardens and green spaces so an important milestone in their work was reached recently with the official opening of the Rural Wellbeing garden on Falcon Lane near Ledbury for which we were pleased to supply some Spruce Ornamental at advantageous rates. Our small involvement came about through our customers Bridget and Will Evans of Caves Folly Nurseries who were involved with the design and also supply of plants, many grown in their Special mix based on Melcourt Sylvamix Natural.

The garden was funded by Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme and took a year to plan, build and plant up. It includes an activity area, sensory garden, vegetable plot and wildflower meadow. This will provide a space for disabled and vulnerable people to feel safe, take exercise, enjoy a garden and grow and eat local produce in their own community.

Salters Hill is clearly doing good work in countless quiet ways so, if you want to support it with a donation, you can do so at http://www.saltershill.org.uk/donate/
