One of the UK’s most respected commercial growers – Bernhard’s Nurseries Ltd of Rugby in Warwickshire – has switched all of its production to Melcourt Sylvamix®.
Bernhard’s have been using peat-reduced media for a number of years, as well as using Melcourt potting bark to ‘top’ pots, to reduce both labour and the use of herbicides. At the same time it has undertaken trials over the last two years using Melcourt Sylvamix® peat free media, alongside existing products.
General manager John Marsden said: “We have been so impressed with Melcourt Sylvamix® peat free compost, that we have now made the full switch to 100% peat free media across all the groups own production, and customers seem pleased that we are making this change.”
